2015–2016 Student Highlights

Academic Performance:

  • So Ting Chun (S5) was awarded the second runner-up in Chinese Solo Verse Speaking (Cantonese) and fifteen students were awarded the Certificate of Merit in junior and senior groups at the 67th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival.
  • Four students were awarded the Certificate of Merit in Chinese Solo Prose Speaking (Putonghua) in junior and senior groups at the 67th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival.
  • Jessie Jireh (S1) was awarded the champion in English Solo Verse Speaking and the second runner-up in English Solo Prose Speaking, Paguyo Giselle Giorgia (S3) and Gonzales Gia Toscah (S3) were awarded the first runner-up and the second runner-up respectively in English Solo Verse Speaking, Brazil Mikaela Darlene Buhia (S4) and Yiu Lok Wai (S5) were awarded the first runner-up and the second runner-up respectively in English Solo Prose Speaking, and thirty-eight female students were awarded Certificate of Merit in English Solo Verse Speaking and English Prose Speaking at the 67th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival.
  • Sarreal Josh Gerald (S2) was awarded the first runner-up in English Solo Prose Speaking, Syed Mohamed Mobeen (S3) and Yiu Chun Hei (S6) were awarded the first runner-up and the second runner-up respectively in English Solo Verse Speaking, and nine male students were awarded Certificate of Merit in English Solo Verse Speaking and English Solo Prose Speaking at the 67th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival
  • Ho Ching Hang (S5) was awarded the champion in the Individual Speed Competition at “The 4th Model Solar Boat Challenge 2015”. Our school was also awarded the Excellence Award in Team Competition and the Outstanding Award in Group Competition.

Sports and Arts:

  • Choy Mei Yee (S6) was awarded a Certificate of Merit in the category of the “Three-Dimensional Work” at the “Exhibition of Secondary School Students’ Creative Visual Arts Work”.
  • Our school was awarded the champion in Boys A Grade and the first runner-up in Boys B Grade in the Inter-School Basketball Competition (Division One Hong Kong) of “The Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation”.
  • Our school was awarded the second runner-up in Boys Team in the All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Basketball Tournament of “The Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation”. Chu Ho Man (S6) was awarded the Leader in Assists. Koo Ka Kui (S6) was awarded the Boys Best 3-Point Shooter. Deng Zhong Jia (S4) was awarded the Leader in Steals.
  • Our school was awarded the Best Wildlife Photography Award in “Hong Kong BioBlitz” of the Tai Tam Tuk Foundation.
  • Our school was awarded the champion in “The Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China Footprint Scheme”.

Campus News:

  • Ten S4 and S5 students and one teacher participated in the Nanjing Historical and Cultural Adventure in December to have a deeper understanding of the history and the culture of the motherland.
  • The Career and Life Planning Expo for the Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students was held in November. The one-day outdoor integrated programme “Experience Integration!” was held from mid to late January. Activities such as making glutinous rice cake and visiting the flower market were organized to strengthen the horizon of NCS students and their sense of belonging to the school.

Community Service:

  • Our school joined the Community Chest Dress Casual Day on 8th October to let students show their love and care to the society.
  • Our school organised a Blood Donation Day on 5th November with positive responses from students.
  • “Volunteer Team” has organised voluntary service in the community for S1 to S5 students: Students took part in the tree-planting activity in late October, visited the single elderly people in December, and distributed cookies to scavengers. Besides, the S4 voluntary service team visited Haven of Hope Woo Ping Care & Attention Home on 17th December to show their earnest care to the society.
