Being one of the non-Chinese speaking students, I was afraid I would not be able to keep up during the lessons as they were taught in Chinese. However, the teachers made sure to help us out during difficult times. They always tried their best to provide suitable care for us so we would not give up and continue to push ourselves to do better.

Every year, not only the students but also the teachers work hard to prepare for the DSE Examination. Since Hong Kong puts a lot of emphasis on it, many of us started to feel the pressure and a little overwhelmed. As I was an NCS student studying in a local class, the teachers arranged some Chinese classes for me to improve my skills. This made me feel more positive about the DSE Examination as I was concerned about what my results would be.

Fortunately, our teachers never stopped supporting and encouraging us. They put in a great deal of effort to guide and look after their students, such as making spare time for us to have group or one-to-one tutorials, preparing extra learning materials as well as having career planning talks. Over the last few years of our school life, we had a lot of practice to get ready for our examination, for instance, doing past papers. Both students and teachers were determined to attain the best results. I had a few one-to-one tutorials with some teachers when I did not understand certain topics or when I could not catch up during the lesson. Teachers would always find time to assist me. I was scared, I could not get good results and felt like giving up at some points, but the teachers and the Principal really believed in me. They helped me overcome difficulties in examinations and finally I could achieve results which allowed me to be admitted into a degree programme of my choice.

I am very grateful that I had teachers and the Principal who constantly and genuinely care for their students. They have made our school life easier to cope with. We all appreciate the effort they put into nurturing us.
